Code Geass has long reigned at the top of the anime charts for its fantastic story and interesting characters. Lelouche, in particular, can be found on many favorite lists and is considered one of the best anime characters of all time. Lelouche is the genius prince who took over a nation and helped liberate the world from his father's rule. He took on the role of the mysterious Zero in an alternate reality Japan and led the Japanese freedom fighters to victory. Lelouche did all this while still attending high school, being part of the student council, and taking care of his disabled sister Nunnally.

10 X/1999

Clamp was an important contributor to the series and designed the characters. Thanks to this, there are several easter eggs from the series X/1999 thrown into the show, particularly with Lelouche's character design and the sword he has after he begins his rule.

His character design was heavily inspired by the character Kamui Shiro from the series.

9 He Can Cook

Lelouche has spent a good portion of his life helping take care of his disabled sister Nunnally. Thanks to this, he has a wide range of household skills, including the ability to cook. It's mentioned several times throughout the series that Lelouch is actually a good cook.

Despite this fact, C.C. refused to eat anything other than pizza while living with him.

8 Ambidexterity

Many fans have noticed that Lelouche has the ability to use both of his hands. This can be seen when he is piloting frames as he easily can type on two keyboards or use controls on both sides without a problem.

While being able to use both hands may not seem like a huge feat, it likely helps him out while he's piloting.

7 Intelligent Comedy

Lelouche is incredibly intelligent, and many of the side stories and drama Cds like to poke fun at this fact. Lelouche actually has a bad habit of overthinking everyday situations, such as trying to figure out that Shirly has a crush on him.

It's said that Lelouche will come up with dozens of scenarios in his head for every situation he encounters. This leads to some great comedy skits that fans of the series should check out.

6 Kallen's Relationship

Fans of Lelouche and Kallen can rejoice as a poem seems to point towards mutual love. Kallen was in love with Lelouche, and he likely knew about it, which is why he pushed her away. Lelouche was scarred after the death of his first girlfriend and swore off love.

This is why, despite the many girls that loved him, he never entered into another romantic relationship.

5 Alternate Lelouches

There are a ton of different Code Geass manga and light novels. Many of these novels take you into alternate universes where the characters are altered, and the storyline is changed. One throws the cast into Wonderland while another changes Nightmares to suits.

Lelouche is shown in many different positions in these spin-offs that allow the creators to show him with different lives.

4 He is Psychically Weak

Despite his ability to pilot and the fact, Lelouch is nothing short of a genius; he is almost useless without his Geass. Lelouche is incredibly physically weak and would easily lose in a close-quarters fight against an enemy.

Lelouch carefully plans out his actions to keep him out of the way of possible physical altercations. This is likely why he has a gun on him and why he didn't try to fight back in the first episode of the show.

3 Creation Process

The creation process for Lelouch's character was supposedly a fun one. The idea for Lelouche was simply that he would be a cool character that everyone could love. Everything about his design was then based around this simple concept.

The same went for his Zero concept with the added twist that his mask would be something completely unique in the anime world.

2 Geass Hunter

In the newest movie, it is revealed that Lelouche and C.C. went on to hunt down rogue Geass users. The pair want to search out those who can't responsibly use the power and kill them for the good of the world.

While this may seem a bit dark, it perfectly fits in line with everything the couple believes in, especially after seeing the evils that the power can cause.

1 Using Gawain

Gawain is a huge easter egg the refers to the Knights of the Round Table. In particular, it refers to the knight of the same name who the creators likely took inspiration from to create Lelouche's character. Lancelot is also meant to be some of the inspiration for Suzaku's character.

Gawain is Lelouche's first frame, and none of the other ones contain a reference. Even the relationship between the two classic knights mirrors that of Lelouche and Suzaku.
