The highly regarded Code Geass is one of the most beloved series in the anime world. This is partly due to the plot and partly due to all of the well-developed characters introduced throughout the show. While some characters like Nina aren't well-received by fans, that's because the show did such a wonderful job of making you hate them.

The show also had several characters that it pushed fans to fall in love with and some that it wanted you to truly feel bad for. Below are the top ten characters as ranked by users on MyAnimeList; some of the entries are surprising while others make perfect sense.

10 Nunnally vi Britannia

Nunnally is Lelouch's sister and his reason for fighting back against his country. Nunnally is a kind-hearted girl who was crippled at a young age; despite this, she remains true to her ideals and even rules over Japan before Lelouch gains control of the world.

Nunnally is the one who is charged with taking up the throne after the end of the show. Something that Lelouche took careful consideration in order to ensure both her safety and the safety of Japan. 

9 Rolo Haliburton

Rolo is Lelouch's fake little brother who he actually comes to care for. Rolo has a Geass that allows him to stop time for a short amount of time and is tasked with watching over Lelouch after the protagonist's memories get wiped.

Rolo is a decent knightmare pilot and has a lonely upbringing; he dies in order to help his big brother war succeed. A noble sacrifice for the big brother he never really knew and his way as atoning for his sin.

8 Euphemia Vi Britannia

Euphemia is Lelouch and Nunally’s half-sister, who takes over the role of sub-viceroy of Japan. Euphemia falls in love with Suzaku and wishes to free the people of Japan. Lelouch loved her deeply but lost control of his Geass, causing her to be killed after slaughtering tons of civilians.

Euphemia was one of the biggest turning points in Lelouch's character and had a huge impact on Suzaku. Despite her short amount of time in Japan she influenced tons of citizens, especially after being kidnapped.

7 Lloyd Asplund

Lloyd is the eccentric scientist known for making the Lancelot. He enjoys creating powerful frames and doesn't seem to care much for the ongoing war. Lloyd does seem to care for Suzaku and his partners, but beyond that, he simply loves science. Lloyd is also very flashy in the way he presents things and has the true mad scientist feel,

Lloyd is one of the quirkiest characters in the show, helping fans to fall in love with him. And what's not love about a mad, giant-mech-building scientist?

6 Jeremiah Gottwald

Jeremiah is constantly referred to as "Orange Boy" and makes several appearances in the series. He has a deep love for the royal family and happily fights in Japan, believing that the country had killed Lelouch and Nunally, as well as, the other royals killed by Lelouch.

Once he learned Lelouch was Zero, he aligned with him almost instantly and was willing to fight anyone in their way. Jeremiah is insanley loyal to the true royal family, especially when it comes to the prince and princess.

5 Shirley Fenette

 

Shirley was a girl in the same grade as Lelouch and Suzaku. She was in love with Lelouch and the only girl he actually showed romantic affection for in the show. Shirley was kind-hearted, which partly led to her being killed by Rolo, who she triggered. Shirley also recalled Loving Lelouche after having her memories wiped.

Shirley loved Lelouch even after he caused her father's death. At the very end she was even willing to join the Black Knights to stay close to Lelouche.

4 Suzaku Kururugi

Suzaku is on the opposite side of the war and fights for Britania even though he is of Japanese descent. He is one of the best pilots in the series and has a close bond with both Lelouch and Nunally since he knew both of them as kids.

Suzaku eventually aligns with Lelouch and is the one who is tasked with killing him at the end of the series. Suzaku is probably the most noble member of the cast and wants to repent for his sins in any way possible

3 Kallen Kouzuki

Kallen is the rebellion's best pilot and a loyal servant to Zero. Kallen is half-Japanese and wants nothing more than to liberate her country from Britania, especially if it means that she can save her mother. Kallen is another woman who falls in love with Lelouch and never loses faith in him.

Kallen is the closest member of the rebellion to Zero and lives a double life as a student. Kallen acts sickly so that she can skip classes in order to help the Black Knights with their missions and is shown to be skilled at hand to hand combat.

2 C.C.

C.C. is the woman who gave Lelouch the power of Geass and stays by his side through the whole show. She can also pilot and is usually the one Lelouch trusts the most with his plans. She loves pizza and lives with Lelouch when they aren't in battle.

C.C. is also immortal and can't be killed no matter what types of injuries she endures. While C.C. may seem cold at first it is later revealed that she cares deeply for Lelouche.

1 Lelouch Vi Britannia

Lelouch is actually the most popular character on the site and is the star of this anime. Lelouchis highly intelligent and possesses a power that allows him to command those around him simply by looking into their eyes.

He cares deeply for those that are close to him and even saves Suzaku when they are still fighting for opposite sides. Lelouch is also a powerful leader who was able to take over the world and then make himself a martyr to finally bring peace to it.
