Disney-Pixar is expected to triumph over Warner Bros. at the Thanksgiving holiday box office, as Coco is set to dethrone the DC Comics-based team-up film Justice League.
According to early estimates for this weekend at the domestic box office, Coco will finish around $70 million by Sunday, while Justice League will fall to $60 million, after clinching a box office victory its first weekend. While Justice League underperformed, it seems Coco will exceed expectations, as it was originally set to make somewhere in the $55-60 million range.
On Wednesday, Thanksgiving’s Eve, Coco raked in $13 million, while Justice League fell short, at $10.5 million. The Zack Snyder-directed film has a six-day domestic total of $122.4 million; it’s made over $307 million worldwide, so far. The film will reportedly lose Warner Bros. $50-$100 million.
In theaters now, Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.
