Reviews for Season 3 praise its continued blend of nostalgia and well-crafted story, with particular acclaim going to the character development of its cast in the new season. Season 3 is also lauded for continuing to weave in more familiar characters from the original film trilogy, with 1986's The Karate Kid Part II playing a notable role.

CBR's own advance review of the season praised the show for taking a deeper, darker look at its main cast, matching the hard-hitting fight sequences with genuine emotional intensity. Netflix announced ahead of the holidays that it has moved up the season premiere date by a full week to help fans celebrate the start of 2021 right with a return back to the rival martial arts dojos.

Cobra Kai stars William Zabka, Ralph Macchio, Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Maridueña, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo, Peyton List and Martin Kove. Season 3 arrives on Netflix Jan. 1.
