The cast of Cobra Kai Season 4 each get their own trading card-like character posters.Series co-creator Hayden Schlossberg shared 9 new character posters, each featuring a character set to appear in Season 4 of Cobra Kai on Netflix, including Tory Nichols, Robby Keene, Terry Silver, Demetri, Samantha LaRusso, Hawk, Miguel Diaz, Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Laurence. The first trailer for Cobra Kai Season 4 saw Johnny (William Zabka) and Danny LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) prepping their students to take on the Cobra Kai dojo in the upcoming All Valley Karate tournament. The trailer also featured the return of Thomas Ian Griffith as Terry Silver, the main antagonist of the 1989 film, The Karate Kid Part III, after being alluded to throughout the first two seasons of the show.

"[Something] I think we've kept alive with Terry [on Cobra Kai] is bringing back that glee he has," Griffith said in a recent interview regarding his return to the franchise. "He actually enjoys this -- he's this billionaire who will have all this going on and [still] go back to the small little world of a karate tournament in the Valley. It's so absurd that it's fantastic!"

It was recently announced that Cobra Kai was renewed for a fifth season ahead of the series' Season 4 premiere, though a continuation of The Karate Kid spinoff series beyond Season 5 has not been officially confirmed. This announcement came after Netflix confirmed Season 4's release window, which is now confirmed to release at the end of this year.

A teaser for Season 4 also confirmed the return of the All Valley Karate Tournament, which was featured in the original 1984 The Karate Kid movie. Season 4 of Cobra Kai officially wrapped production in May 2021 after over three months of filming. Season 5 is set to start production in Atlanta, GA this fall. Series co-creator John Hurwitz has confirmed that there are plans for the series beyond the fifth season.

Cobra Kai is set 34 years after the events of the original 1984 film The Karate Kid. The series originally premiered on YouTube Premium in May 2018 and, following the release of Season 2 on the platform, Netflix won a bidding war to stream the series for Season 3. Cobra Kai centers around Johnny Lawrence and Danny LaRusso, who are now adults and senseis of their own respective dojos (Eagle Fang Karate and Miyagi-Do Karate). All three seasons are currently available to stream on Netflix.

Cobra Kai Season 4 premieres on Netflix in Dec. 31, 2021.
