With the future of Cobra Kai is looking stronger than ever, the hit YouTube Premium original series has been officially renewed for a third season.

A continuation and revival of the classic Karate Kid films from the 1980s, Cobra Kai's ten-episode second season premiered last week to positive reviews. The similarly acclaimed first season has been streamed over 55 million times since its debut last year. Executive producers and showrunners Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg have signed on to continue their production roles for the third season.

Cobra Kai follows the middle-aged Johnny Lawrence, the antagonist of the original 1984 The Karate Kid, as he reopens the martial arts Cobra Kai dojo decades after the original trilogy. Learning of the resurgence of the rival martial arts school and the return of Johnny's old mentor, John Kreese, Daniel LaRusso, the protagonist of the trilogy, opens his own martial arts school putting the two men on a collision course once again.

Earlier this week, YouTube announced plans to make all of its original series, including Cobra Kai, available for free to stream with ads sometime later this year.
