Cobra Kai star Ralph Macchio revealed he wouldn't be opposed to appearing in another Karate Kid movie.

"I am not closing the door on anything. Once this worked on this level, I would be foolish to say, 'But that won't work,'" the actor told The Hollywood Reporter. "I am open to all that, of course with the right content and execution."

Macchio also addressed the potential of wrapping up the Cobra Kai series with a final Karate Kid movie, like Breaking Bad did with El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. "Even though they say 'Cobra Kai never dies,' at some point, we will have to wind up this series and tie up the stories properly," he explained. "And hopefully, Netflix gives us that opportunity to finish it and then is up for other chapters in other ways."

Macchio originated the role of protagonist Daniel LaRusso in 1984's The Karate Kid and reprised the role in both The Karate Kid Part II (1986) and The Karate Kid Part III (1989). After decades away from the role, Macchio returned as LaRusso in Cobra Kai, which debuted in 2018 and also marked the return of original Karate Kid stars William Zabka and Martin Kove.

Most recently, Season 4 of Cobra Kai reintroduced Karate Kid Part III antagonist Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith). Speaking about Silver's return in a recent interview, co-showrunner Hayden Schlossberg admitted they've been talking about bringing back Silver since Season 1. "By the time Season 4 hit, we wanted to bring that energy into the show," Schlossberg said at the time. "We've seen, at that point, Kreese with Johnny, and it would be interesting to add a contemporary perspective -- somebody who knows Kreese and can talk to Kreese in a different way."

While fans have been celebrating the return of Silver in the Cobra Kai universe, Macchio recently revealed that Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan -- who starred in the 2010 reboot of The Karate Kid -- won't show up on the series in the future. "Anyone who knew Mr. Miyagi and interacted with Mr. Miyagi is canon for our show, for the Cobra Kai show," Macchio clarified. "They were not in that [Cobra Kai] world."

Per Macchio's rules, however, that leaves the door open for Hilary Swank to reprise her role as Julie Pierce -- Mr. Miyagi's student in 1994's The Next Karate Kid -- on a future episode of Cobra Kai.

Created by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, all four seasons of Cobra Kai are streaming on Netflix.
