Looking back at all of Cobra Kai's seasons, it's almost comical how often some characters have switched sides. While it's a redundant concept, it has given fans all kinds of great drama. There have been bone-breaking rivalries, unexpected team-ups and large-scale, brawls, and there's no doubt that Season 5 will offer a lot more of the same.

Well before official marketing started, Cobra Kai's Jacob Bertrand teased that Season 5 would have a number of unexpected team-ups, and that started some far-out predictions. Some fans thought that Hawk could reunite with Kreese, and others thought that Sam might join Cobra Kai and team up with Tory. However, the just-released Cobra Kai trailer showed two totally unexpected alliances, and fans could not be happier.

Cobra Kai Johnny and Chozen

While Mike Barnes didn't appear, there were a number of great moments in the trailer. As the season opens, Johnny will be working as an Uber driver, and that's sure to be a comedy gem. Additionally, it showed that Daniel may start training his wife, Amanda, while Terry Silver brings in a badass female sensei of his own. However, the moment that most fans are talking about was the team-up of Johnny and Chozen.

Fans knew that Chozen would be joining Daniel in the fight against Terry Silver, but no one expected him to be directly teaming up with Johnny. At the 1:51 mark, the pair walked into one of the Cobra Kai dojos to teach one of the sensei a lesson. While it only showed the first punch in the fight, it's certain to be an absolute beat down. Johnny's old Cobra Kai influences combined with Chozen's willingness to push the boundaries will be an awesome combination, as they send a heavy-handed message to Terry Silver.

While the Johnny and Chozen team-up drawing a lot of attention, there's another alliance that's an even bigger deal. In one of the top posts on the trailer's Reddit thread, user MHWellington commented, "Not gonna lie, seeing the big 3 (Robby, Miguel and Hawk) on the same side, training, is hype."

Cobra Kai Miguel Hawk and Robbie Training

That comment is absolutely correct. Miguel, Robby and Hawk were the three original fighters on the series, and they have always been the best. However, the trio has never been on the same team before. Miguel and Hawk started off together, but Hawk went down a dark path when Kreese started to take advantage of him. Then, Miguel and Robby have only ever been enemies. In fact, a lot of the trailer showed them still feuding. However, they must eventually work out their differences in service of the greater good.

Of course, seeing Miguel, Robby and Hawk together was "hype," but it also signals that Cobra Kai is headed in a different direction. For Seasons 1-4, there were big issues, but it was mostly about petty squabbles and individual rivalries. Now, however, it looks like everyone will have to join forces and put up their defenses against Terry Silver and the ever-growing influence of Cobra Kai.

To see Miguel, Robbie and Hawk team up, watch Season 5 of Cobra Kai. The new season premieres Sept. 9, on Netflix.
