The following contains major spoilers for Cobra Kai Season 5, streaming now on Netflix.

After leaving the All-Valley Tournament at the end of Cobra Kai Season 4 to find his biological father, Miguel finally located him in the first two episodes of Season 5. However, as expected, he turned out to not be the loving father-figure Miguel wanted, allowing him to accept Johnny as his true father figure. Despite only being present in the fifth season for a very brief period, there is room in future seasons for Miguel's dad to make another appearance.

When Miguel arrives in Mexico, he finally meets his dad, Hector Salazar, who has a new girlfriend and son. Upon spending time with him, however, he soon learns that he truly is a dangerous man who has no sense of family and no regrets of leaving Carmen and his life in Ecuador. Although it's not stated what he is, it's highly likely that he is a drug kingpin given how agitated he became upon seeing Johnny and Robby in faux FBI shirts.

Hector also runs an underground Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) ring or fight club of sorts. Given that his interest was piqued when Miguel mentioned he practiced karate back home in the States, he could have been trying to recruit Miguel into his fight club, hence why he brought him there. Despite Miguel not sharing his last name, it wouldn't be too hard for Hector to conduct a simple Google search to narrow down his options. Plus, any criminal contacts he may have operating in America could provide him information.

A massive plot point introduced in Season 5 is the Sekai Taikai or world karate tournament. Since both Miyagi-Do/Eagle Fang and Cobra Kai qualified, it's a given that Miguel will fight in a tournament setting again. But unlike the All-Valley Tournament, the Sekai Taikai will be a tournament for all in the world to see. With Hector owning an MMA fight club, one of his promoters or recruiters could be present and may either attempt to recruit Miguel, or relay information back to Hector. With Hector already sensing a connection between him and Miguel in the previous season, it wouldn't take him long to realize that Miguel is his son.

Should Hector appear in Season 6, he may attempt to make amends with Miguel by pretending to be a father figure to him and downplaying his final words and actions when they were in Mexico as simply drunk behavior. A much more balanced Miguel, however, will easily see through his attempts and refuse to accept Hector as his father. Should Hector be refused, it's likely he could be another major villain on Cobra Kai. Given that Kim Da-Eun wasn't arrested at the end of Season 5, perhaps the two will work alongside one another to take down Miaygi-Do/Eagle Fang.

Despite only being on Cobra Kai for two episodes in Season 5, Hector Salazar has a lot of potential as a recurring character if not an outright villain. As the owner of an underground fight club and a probable drug kingpin, Salazar has numerous criminal connections over the world who could help recruit fighters for him. With the Sekai Taikai World Karate Tournament potentially taking place next season, the international event would likely be televised. If Miguel does especially well, Hector could figure out who Miguel really is and try to recruit him via emotional manipulation. In a show that contains numerous minor recurring antagonists, it would not be much of a surprise if Hector Salazar makes another appearance in the upcoming sixth season.

Seasons 1-5 of Cobra Kai are available to stream on Netflix.
