Cobra Kai successfully revived The Karate Kid franchise for today's generation. Its co-creators even hinted that its success might lead to future spinoff series.

During an interview, Cobra Kai co-creator Jon Hurwitz said that he and Josh Heald built the series to have potential spinoffs -- and cited another highly popular television series in the process. "The hope is that these characters are in a place that could lead to more stories down the road," Hurwitz told PopCulture.com. "We love the show Breaking Bad, for example."

"We love how that story concluded, but you're still living in that Breaking Bad universe. The same can be said for Cobra Kai down the road." Hurwitz was referring to Better Call Saul, the prequel series that launched from Breaking Bad. The series follows Jimmy McGill, who will become the corrupt lawyer known as Saul Goodman. Hurwitz and Heald did not specify which Cobra Kai characters are lined up to have spinoff stories told.

Cobra Kai takes place years after the Karate Kid films and follows Johnny Lawrence as he reopens the Cobra Kai dojo and encounters his old rival Daniel LaRusso. Season 3 saw both men setting aside their rivalry to confront the former Cobra Kai sensei John Kreese.

Cobra Kai stars William Zabka, Ralph Macchio, Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Maridueña, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo, Peyton List and Martin Kove. All three seasons are available to stream now on Netflix.
