Over the course of two seasons of Cobra Kai, Hawk has made a serious transformation from geek to bully, and actor Jacob Bertrand revealed that he'll have more obstacles to face that involve OG sensei John Kreese.

"Yeah, I just think that guy has never really dealt with his problems," Bertrand told CBR in reference to his character. "[Laughs] I think that coming out of his shell was a really good thing that Johnny kind of pushed him to do with that tough love."

Before Hawk joined Cobra Kai, he was known as Eli Moskowitz, a Doctor Who-loving geek that had an even bigger target on him because of his lip deformation. His friend Miguel, who recently joined the dojo to transform himself as well, invited a timid Eli to join, but in typical Johnny Lawrence fashion, he's made fun of by the blond sensei. Eli then committed to changing his whole identity. He changed his personality, his clothes and got a Mohawk and a tattoo of a hawk to drive the point home. However, Bertrand confirmed that there's more in store for the character.

"Season 3 gets a little darker for Hawk because he does end up facing a lot of those inner demons head-on," Bertrand continued. "And especially because Kreese is now running Cobra Kai, he's kind of just forced to do things; morally, he just doesn't know if he agrees with everything that Kreese is doing with the dojo. So it's basically just finding where he fits in this land of karate turmoil."

Kreese was the co-founder of the Cobra Kai dojo and Johnny's unhinged sensei in the original Karate Kid movie. Kreese reemerged in classic supervillain fashion at the end of Cobra Kai Season 1 to foreshadow the darkness that was to come. In Season 2, Kreese joined Johnny in teaching the younger generation, but when Johnny watched his mentor take things too far, he had to reevaluate his own actions. Similarly, in Cobra Kai Season 3 Hawk will have to decide how to respond to Kreese's hardcore methods without his former sensei there.

Cobra Kai stars William Zabka, Ralph Macchio, Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Maridueña, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo, Peyton List and Martin Kove. Season 3 arrives on Netflix Jan. 1.
