WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Cobra Kai Season 4, streaming now on Netflix.

According to Cobra Kai co-creator Hayden Schlossberg, the Karate Kid sequel series' upcoming fifth season will explore what things would have been like had 1989's The Karate Kid Part III played out differently.

"Cobra Kai Season 5 answers the long asked question- -- what would have happened had Daniel lost at the end of Karate Kid Part 3? Nerds of the Valley, be afraid," Schlossberg wrote on Twitter.

The Karate Kid Part III introduced Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), the original founder of the Cobra Kai dojo, who joined the fray in order to help original Karate Kid antagonist John Kreese (Martin Kove) seek revenge on Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita). Silver enlists a violent karate prospect named Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan) to challenge Daniel at the All-Valley Karate Tournament, though Daniel refuses to participate and defend his title.

However, Barnes and his goons eventually force Daniel to sing up for the tournament, though Mr. Miyagi refuses to train Daniel following a falling-out between the two. Silver then offers to train Daniel himself, putting the titular Karate Kid through dangerous drills and causing him to further alienate himself from Mr. Miyagi in the process. Daniel and Mr. Miyagi ultimately make amends, with Daniel narrowly defeating Barnes at the tournament after being taken to his limit.

Cobra Kai Season 4, which hit Netflix just a few days ago, reintroduces Terry Silver to the fold, with Daniel clearly being haunted by his brief time as a member of Cobra Kai back in Karate Kid III. By the end of Season 4, Silver has a falling-out with John Kreese and takes complete control of Cobra Kai. It's at this point that Silver strongly implies that he will be brining Mike Barnes back into the mix.

It was confirmed back in August that Netflix had renewed Cobra Kai for a fifth season. Season 5 wrapped filming in December, just under two weeks before Season 4 premiered. What's more, Cobra Kai co-creator Josh Heald has strongly implied that a sixth season is in the cards. "We can't believe we've filmed two seasons of the show this year," Heald said back in December. "In our minds, it's crazy to believe how far ahead of the story we are than what the audience has seen so far. Season 5 is another enormous season with a lot of new flavors and a lot of things that you haven't seen before yet on the show. And it's not the end."

Cobra Kai Season 4 is streaming on Netflix now.
