The WWE has already booked a return trip to the "spooky" animated world of Scooby-Doo, and now the sports entertainment company's superstars are headed to the distant past in The Flintstones and WWE: Stone Age Smackdown.

Announced in mid-2013, the animated film features prehistoric versions of the WWE's wrestlers mixing it up with Fred, Barney, Wilma and the rest of the classic Flintstones cast. Of course, the superstars caveman-up their names for the cartoon, with John Cena-Stone, Daniel Bry-Rock, Mr. McMagma and the Undertaker. Apparently Taker is Taker no matter where or when the story takes place.

While The Flinstones isn't exactly the pop-culture powerhouse it once was, there should be plenty of interest in the cartoon from wrestling fans, if only because it also stars CM Punk-Rock as the story's main villain. CM Punk famously parted ways with WWE in late 2013, and in the past several weeks has spoken out about his reasons for leaving while claiming he'll never again set foot inside the squared circle. Punk did provide the voice for his animated counterpart, as did the rest of the WWE roster featured in the movie, so in a way, this may well be the final time fans see him interact with Cena, Rey Mysterio and Mr. McMahon.

The Flintstones and WWE: Stone Age Smackdown, co-produced by Warner Bros. and WWE Studios, is available digitally, on Blu-ray or DVD on March 17.
