Clooney To Replace Downey Jr. In Gravity

George Clooney may be about to die a horrible death in outer space. We know this because he's taken over the role once held by Robert Downey Jr. in Alfonso Cuaron's new science-fiction movie Gravity.

The movie, which stars Sandra Bullock as one of two survivors of an accident aboard a space station (Clooney plays the other), has been in the works for some time, with Downey Jr. being the first - and for some time, only - actor locked in. With Downey Jr. dropping out due to Avengers-related scheduling, the hunt was on for a replacement, which led to Clooney's arrival in space. The movie is now scheduled to shoot in spring next year.
