Cloak & Dagger are getting an upgrade when the series returns for Season 2. During a set visit attended by CBR, the show's cast and crew revealed that Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson's powers will change and grow in the sophomore season.

"I think, because they're growing as human beings, we're going to grow their powers a little and we're going to change their powers a little," showrunner Joe Pokaski teased. "We're going to mix it up."

"I think it's going to be crazier than you expect," added Aubrey Joseph, who plays Tyrone. "You know, being a fan of the comics myself, I was just waiting for that day where we could do that, bring somebody into the cloak. So when we did that in [Season 1] episode 10, I was like, 'Yes! Finally!' But it gets even crazier this season, to a point where it's explored even more deeply, and that's all I'm going to say because I don't want to get in trouble."

"Both of their powers, they're really starting to get the hang of it," he continued. "I really love this aspect of the show. They're not perfect people. They're not perfect superheroes. I feel like that's why a lot of kids related to the show, because they weren't looking at a show with just like, oh, Superman -- Superman is obviously DC, we don't talk about him over here. We would say like a Captain America or like an Iron Man, who are just like this perfect superhero that has everything together. Iron Man is like the richest man on Earth, you know what I mean? He still goes through hardships, but you kind of look at this person as like he's that perfect person, like he has everything together and he knows everything he can do with these powers."

"With Season 1, we literally watched them figure out how to maneuver with these powers. So Season 2, from the jump, you see them become these badass superheroes, you know?" he said. "It still takes time, obviously. They're young and they are still learning, but -- specifically for Ty -- eight months in a church by yourself, it's a lot of time on your hands to practice your powers, obviously. So I think it will be worth the wait, to see that."

Asked what it was like for him to develop Ty's evolving powers, he shared, "It's like a kid in a candy store. When I signed on to do this role, I obviously expected to be a superhero and to be fighting crime and all that type of stuff and all the action scenes and teleporting all over the place. So, to finally be able to do it and so frequently in Season 2 has just been a joy. I can't wait for everyone to see it, because now you can't say anything about there's not enough action. We have it! You can't say anything about it now!"

"I think it's just going to be cool for people, especially if you're a fan of this show, to finally see Tyrone and Tandy take control of their powers," he went on. "You know, each episode, when we finally saw Ty teleport or we finally see them get that confidence with their powers, you're like, 'Yes! This is what we wanted!' So to have a full season of that? I think it's just going to reel people in and bring even more fans to the show and hopefully set us up for a pretty badass Season 3."

Emma Lahana, who plays Mayhem, also weighed in on the pair's growing powers. "Yeah, I think that's another thing that's really interesting about the way that Joe [Pokaski] sets everything up. It's because nothing is stagnant," she pointed out. "Everything is always evolving. What you see in one episode isn't going to continue through the rest of the show. It's always changing and evolving."
