The new trailer for Marvel's Cloak & Dagger implies there's an unseen hand pushing the super-powered teens together, and pulling them apart. "It always came down to two people," an unidentified woman says in voiceover, "the divine pairing."
Previous promos for the drama, which debuts June 7 on the Disney-owned Freeform, certainly played up the role of destiny in the lives of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph), who meet as children and then reunite, seemingly by accident, as teenagers. However, this trailer drives that idea home.
Based on the Marvel Comics characters created by Bill Mantlo and Ed Hannigan, the teen romance drama (with superpowers, naturally) centers on the two teens who are burdened with their newly acquired abilities: Tyrone, aka Cloak, can engulf others in darkness, while Tandy, aka Dagger, can emit daggers of light. Although they learn they’re better together than apart, their growing feelings for each other further complicates an already-challenging world.
Arriving with a two-premiere on June 7, Cloak & Dagger stars Olivia Holt as Tandy Bowen/Dagger and Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone Johnson/Cloak, as well as Andrea Roth as Tandy’s mother Melissa Bowen, Gloria Reuben as Tyrone’s mother Adina Johnson, Miles Mussenden as Tyrone’s father Michael Johnson, Carl Lundstedt as Tandy’s partner in crime Liam, James Saito as Dr. Bernard Sanjo and J.D. Evermore as Detective Connors.
