Marvel's Cloak & Dagger returns to Freeform in April. The show's second season promises new dangers for Tyrone (Aubrey Joseph) and Tandy (Olivia Holt) as they explore their powers and come into their own as the Divine Pairing of New Orleans.
Now, Marvel has released the first official photos from Season 2, which hint at the changes and themes of the oncoming season.
Most of the new images seem to be from scenes taking place at a party that Tandy and Tyrone attend together.
Although the two aren't dressed in costumes, the themes of light and darkness are clearly emphasized in Tyrone's black clothing and Tandy's white karate gi-style shirt, and Tandy's glowing hand in one of the images suggests that she may be summoning a light dagger.
It's also worth noting that the two characters, who spent the first season reluctantly cooperating with each other, are visibly much closer. In the photos, they're clearly holding hands as they walk together in one of the photos.
In another photo, they relax in Tandy's church hideout, apparently sharing a laugh and watching something on a projector.
While it was previously revealed that the character Brigid O'Reilly (Emma Lahana) would be taking on the moniker "Mayhem", not much is known yet about how the character from the source comic books will manifest.
However, these two young heroes will have to do a lot more than take down one single villain. Marvel describes Tandy and Tyrone's Season 2 journey through their growth as characters first of all: "With enhanced powers and a choice to make about the type of heroes they want to be, they make the choice to run into the danger, head first. They tackle a heartless vigilante and uncover an evil that’s been preying on the young women of the city, as the show takes on more serious topics like gang violence and human trafficking."
Returning April 4 on Freeform, Cloak & Dagger stars Olivia Holt as Tandy Bowen/Dagger and Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone Johnson/Cloak, as well as Emma Lahana as Brigid O'Reilly/Mayhem, Andrea Roth as Tandy’s mother Melissa Bowen, Gloria Reuben as Tyrone’s mother Adina Johnson, Miles Mussenden as Tyrone’s father Michael Johnson, Carl Lundstedt as Liam, James Saito as Dr. Bernard Sanjo and J.D. Evermore as Detective Connors.
