The release date for Hulu's movie adaptation of Clive Barker's iconic horror anthology book series Books of Blood has been announced, and it comes with a chilling new poster.The image was posted on Hulu's official Twitter, depicting a man straining his neck upward, his nerves taut as though screaming in pain. In place of the man's face is an open book carved out of his skin. Orville producer Brannon Braga is directing the movie from a script adaptation he wrote alongside Adam Simon, with Seth MacFarlane serving as an executive producer.

The original Books of Blood anthology series has received numerous adaptations of individual stories over the years, including Rawhead Rex (1986), The Midnight Meat Train (2008) and Dread (2009). Hulu's upcoming adaptation is described as "a journey into uncharted and forbidden territory through three tales tangled in space and time."

Directed and co-written by Brannon Braga, Books of Blood stars Anna Friel, Britt Robertson, Rafi Gavron, and Yul Vazquez. Seth MacFarlane will serve as executive producer, while Adam Simon will co-write the movie with Braga. It is set to premiere October 7 on Hulu.
