"Civil War II" Extended to Eight Issues

On his Tumblr, writer Brian Michael Bendis addressed "Civil War II" #5's delay and revealed that Marvel has greenlit an extra issue for the series, bringing the event's run up to eight issues total.

Answering a fan question, Bendis explained that the delays were due to David Marquez's new addition to the family. The artist celebrated the birth of his son as recently as a month ago, and -- as such -- has been focusing on his family as well as his artwork.

"David [Marquez] has been handing in about a page a day for the last couple of weeks so we're getting back on track," he added, "So much so that Marvel greenlit an 8th issue for us. I came up with a better ending but needed the pages. Very grateful that they let us do our thing."

Bendis also released a new page from the comic, writing, "So a little late and you get a little more. Here's a sneak..."

"Civil War II" #5 goes on sale September 7.
