'Ciudad' Scores Director John Pogue

Ciudad, an adaptation of the upcoming Oni Press graphic novel written by brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, is inching closer to production, thanks to a personnel shift: According to The Hollywood Reporter now has word that John Pogue (The Quiet Ones) has stepped in to direct the Sierra Pictures feature.

The Russo brothers, who are helming Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, had initially planned to co-direct from a screenplay by Joe Russo. Dwayne Johnson is attached to star.

The duo has been working on the graphic novel with artists Ande Parks and Fernando Leon since 2008. The story revolves around a weary mercenary hired by a Brazilian drug lord to return his kidnapped daughter from the corrupt city of Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. The film is scheduled to start filming this spring in Columbia.
