According to star Zachary Levi, a movie revival of Chuck may be close to happening and is just waiting on the green light from copyright holders Warner Bros.

Talking to SiriusXM, Levi spoke about the Chuck movie, which he has been hoping to get made for more than a decade. "I've been trying to make a Chuck movie since before we even finished the show," he revealed, adding that when he saw shows such as Veronica Mars successfully crowdfunding a movie continuation of the TV show's story, he was inspired to try to do the same for Chuck. "I was like 'Clearly there's an appetite for people wanting to see additions to the series that they held dear in their heart.'"

Levi added, "Warner Brothers owns the rights to it, I'm in early talks with heads there to be like 'Hey guys, you know, I'm now your superhero over at your Warner Brothers films, let me use that goodwill and let me go make this.'" Warner Bros. Discovery has experienced a turbulent few months following the company's merger, resulting in a host of canceled projects and a purge of content from its streaming service.

Levi also shared that he's spoken to the show's other cast members, saying that "all the cast would be in, they've already said they're totally down to do it," though the actor did not specify which of his co-stars had confirmed their interest in reprising their roles.

The Levi-led spy comedy, which ran for five seasons on NBC from 2007 to 2012, was well known for its dedicated fanbase who saved the show from cancellation multiple times. Following the hit series, Levi went on to starring roles in Thor: The Dark World and the short-lived Heroes continuation Heroes Reborn, before being cast in his largest role to date as the title character in the DC Extended Universe movie Shazam! (2019).

Following the release of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, it is uncertain how involved Levi will be in the newly rebranded DC Universe under DC Studios and its co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. The actor previously expressed confidence that there would continue to be a place for him in the franchise, owing to his friendship with Gunn and Safran. Speaking at Comic Con Portugal 2022, Levi lightheartedly stated, "Those are my friends, and if they don't have a plan, then they are not my friends anymore. No sir."

All five seasons of Chuck are available to stream now on HBO Max.
