BlacKkKlansman star John David Washington is being lined up to star in Christopher Nolan's next big film.

According to Variety, Washington, the son of famous actor Denzel Washington, has been tapped up for what's being dubbed as another "event" film from the popular British director. Details on the project are at a minimum, but an inside source has described the film as a massive, innovative action blockbuster, which is slated for a July 17, 2020 release.

Washington, noted for his role on HBO's Ballers, shot to prominence with his breakout and rave performance in Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman as an undercover cop leading an infiltration of the Ku Klux Klan. He's known for his comedic aura but has shown he has action and drama chops as well, as seen in films like The Old Man & the Gun and Monsters and Men.

The role he's in talks for is said to be one of Hollywood's most clamored-for roles at the moment, which is par for the course with Nolan's movies. In terms of "event films," the likes of Inception, Interstellar and most recently, Dunkirk, fit the description for this secretive project. Coincidentally, this new movie is being lined up for IMAX, which once more hints at the scope and ambition of Nolan.

Nolan will be producing along with his longtime partner Emma Thomas, with production starting later this year.
