Chris Pratt has effectively confirmed that Star-Lord will appear in the upcoming The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, the sequel to 2014’s massively-successful The LEGO Movie. Pratt made the announcement today at the Warner Bros. Pictures panel at Comic-Con International: San Diego.

"Don't be surprised if you see another moment of art imitating life in this movie,” Pratt said in response to a question about whether or not Star-Lord would make a cameo in the film. “Was that mysterious enough?"

It’s worth noting that the footage showed at the panel also revealed another character voiced by Pratt named Rex. According the Pratt, the character is meant to be a comedic send-up of the actor’s more “serious roles.” Rex will be a raptor trainer, archeologist and galaxy defender, clearly a reference to Pratt’s work on the Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy franchises.

The LEGO movies have long been grounds for superheroes to cut loose. The LEGO Batman Movie brought droves of DC Comics characters to the big screen back in 2017. That being said, Marvel’s involvement in the mainstream LEGO movies has been somewhat lacking by comparison. Perhaps The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part will be a turning point for the brand's heroes.

Directed by Mike Mitchel, The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part reunites Chris Pratt as Emmet, Elizabeth Banks as Lucy (aka Wyldstyle), Will Arnett as LEGO Batman, Nick Offerman as Metal Beard and Alison Brie as Unikitty. They’re joined by Tiffany Haddish Queen Watevra Wa-Nab, Stephanie Beatriz as Sweet Mayhem and Arturo Castro as Ice Cream Cone. The film opens Feb. 8, 2019.
