The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay today confirmed the existence of a sequel. A fan on social media reached out to McKay regarding a possible follow-up, and the director surprisingly responded to say that he is currently working on one.

McKay, a Robot Chicken veteran before moving on to the LEGO films, isn’t very active on Twitter. Though it’s slightly odd to see the first confirmation of the superhero sequel through social media, it’s a welcome bit of news, as the first film delighted viewers enough to garner a 90-percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

“We are working on that rn actually!,” said McKay in his tweet. “In the meantime LEGO Batman is all over LEGO 2 coming in February.”

His post also promotes Mike Mitchell and Trisha Gum’s The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, which will release in February. The first film features Will Arnett’s LEGO Batman as a central character, and it looks like he’ll be back in that role again. Though the two LEGO franchises don’t have a lot of connective tissue between them (other than they’re both LEGO-based), McKay continues to promote the franchise as a whole.

So far, the LEGO films have been massive crossovers between brands, so we’ll just have to wait and see if LEGO Batman’s Gotham and extended cast make an appearance The LEGO Movie 2.
