The Avengers star Chris Hemsworth recently reacted to a newly-resurfaced video of him and co-stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo singing The Beatles' "Hey Jude."

The video first appeared on Downey Jr.'s Instagram account and was subsequently shared on Twitter by a Marvel Cinematic Universe fan account, at which point it came to Hemsworth's attention. The Aussie actor joked that he thought the footage had been scrubbed from the internet, before suggesting it might be time for him, Evans, Downey Jr. and Ruffalo to "get the band back together." To date, only Ruffalo has replied to Hemsworth's tweet, expressing mock-enthusiasm for the quartet to embark on a "world tour."

Of the four actors, only Hemsworth and Ruffalo are still actively involved with the MCU, as Downey Jr. and Evans retired from their respective roles, Iron Man and Captain America, with the release of 2019's Avengers: Endgame. Hemsworth hinted that his time playing Thor might also be drawing to a close soon, however, a message attached to Thor: Love and Thunder's credits suggests this may not be the case. That said, director Taika Waititi revealed that this message caught Hemsworth by surprise -- a possible sign that he hasn't yet signed on for additional MCU projects.

Will Chris Evans and RDJ Return to the MCU?

While Hemsworth's MCU return seems likely, fans shouldn't hold their breath waiting for Evans or Downey Jr. to reprise their roles. Evans has repeatedly played down speculation he will make a comeback, saying it would be hard to recapture the magic of his original MCU run. Evans also argued that having Steve Rogers show up again would risk overshadowing his successor as Captain America, Sam Wilson. Despite this, Sam Wilson actor Anthony Mackie recently said he hopes that Evans will one day star in another MCU project.

For his part, Downey Jr. seems equally happy sitting out the MCU Phases Four, Five and Six. The star opted not to voice Tony Stark/Iron Man in the What If...? animated series and Marvel Studios is about to introduce Stark's replacement, Riri Williams, in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Portrayed by Dominique Thorne, Riri Williams is set to build her own suit of high-tech armor in the upcoming sequel, before headlining a six-episode Disney+ series, Ironheart, in late 2023. Downey Jr. is not currently expected to appear in Ironheart, despite Iron Man's pivotal role in Williams' comic book origin story.
