On October 4th, Chris Evans let the world know he had finished reshoots for Avengers 4, with his statement sounding like a final farewell and prompting widespread speculation that he would not return for any future movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - which would likely mean that his character, Captain America, was fated to die in the untitled Avengers: Infinity War sequel. The Marvel Report captured an interview with Evans at ACE Comic Con in Chicago, where he wouldn't confirm anything about the meaning behind his message, while also saying it shouldn't be taken as a spoiler.RELATED: Ryan Reynolds Is ‘Weeping’ Over Chris Evans Captain America Farewell

A second tweet about the interview stated, "Chris Evans says that Marvel just knows what they are doing. And that gets a round of applause from the crowd."

Marvel Studios has thus far been successful at keeping details regarding Avengers 4 under wraps, with no major spoilers revealed amidst the many fan theories about how the plot will resolve and which characters will survive, so it seems fair enough to say the studio knows what it's doing. Even so, fans will be waiting with bated breath to find out if Evans is really gone for good.
