Chris Evans has come a long way since Fantastic Four, moving from playing the wisecracking bright spot of the Fox franchise to standing at the center of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Steve Rogers, the title character in this weekend's Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Still, Evans has fondness for his time as the Fantastic Four's resident hothead. As such, he has some feelings on Michael B. Jordan's casting as the new Human Torch — and, ultimately, he's excited to share the character with the up-and-coming actor.

"It's so funny, you almost feel precious over the role that you don't want someone else to do it," Evans told the New York Daily News. "But when you hear someone phenomenal is doing it, it's very exciting like you almost can't wait."

"It's almost like we're sharing, the character is ours," he added. "I feel like I'm connected with him in a way. It's a nice feeling."

With two superheroes under his belt (not to mention roles in comic-book adaptations, like TMNT, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, Snowpiercer and The Losers), Evans could write an instruction manual on how to navigate that world. But he has no wisdom to impart on Jordan.

"I couldn't even give that guy any advice if I wanted, that guy is so good," he said. "It's exciting to see what he's going to do, because I know he's going to reinvent it in a way that I could never have imagined."
