Chris Evans has played many roles in his time as an actor. He’s been an apocalypse survivor hurtling through a snowy world in Snowpiercer and the hunky love interest in a handful of romantic comedies, though he’s perhaps best known as Captain America, leader of the Avengers superhero team in Marvel’s expansive cinematic universe. But recently, Evans played a storyteller on the BBC’s CBeebies Bedtime Stories, where he read Shelly Becker’s Even Superheroes Have Bad Days.CBeebies Bedtime Stories released a teaser via Twitter for the episode, which aired this week and can be found on the network’s iPlayer service.

CBeebies Bedtime Stories is a well-known television series in the United Kingdom that airs roughly at the time children are being tucked into bed. The series features popular celebrities reading children’s books, and has included the likes of Tom Hardy, who played Bane in Dark Knight Rises, and James McAvoy, best known as the mutant leader Professor Xavier in the latest trilogy of X-Men movies.

The taping apparently took a great deal out of Evans, who was recorded reading multiple storybooks, though only Even Superheroes Have Bad Days has been aired. "I was putting myself to sleep when I was doing it. Some of the stories were just so comforting. It made me want to just curl up,” Evans said in an interview with Metro News.

BBC’s iPlayer is a region locked service freely available to most residents in the UK. You might have to be a bit crafty if you live in the United States and want to watch the segment.
