Captain America had a lot of catching up to do in the events between the end of Captain America: The First Avengers and the beginning of The Avengers. While we saw that some of it had been filmed for The Avengers, the scenes were ultimately cut for the sake of time. But just because they didn’t appear in that movie doesn’t mean they’re gone for good. It turns out that they were actually removed from The Avengers because Marvel plans to deal with those plot points in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
“They had all those deleted scenes with The Avengers because a lot of those scenes are for Captain 2,” star Chris Evans recently told Collider. “It was good stuff, but it all felt like that was his story. It is a different movie. With The Avengers there was so much to cram in. So I think making it any longer would have just been exhausting. A lot of that stuff [that was cut] is for Captain America 2. That is his story.”
He elaborated, “It is him trying to on a personal level adjust to the fact that everyone he knows is gone and the whole Peggy Carter of it all. There are a lot of things that he kind of has to come to terms with. So I don’t know. I am excited to kind of see flashes of the first Captain, if you know what I mean, and to see his memory of what we now know as an audience of who he was.”
In other exciting news, Evans said there’s a chance he could have a cameo in Thor: The Dark World. We already saw Samuel L. Jackson in Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. in The Incredible Hulk, Jeremy Renner in Thor and Scarlett Johansson in Iron Man 2, so why not continue the trend with more crossovers after The Avengers? Evans and Chris Hemsworth apparently had the same idea, and decided it could be fun to do one prior to Captain America: The Winter Soldier hitting theaters.
“I would love to do a little thing in Thor 2,” Evans said. “It is obviously going to be tricky trying to work out the plot, the reason why I am not there to help him, and why he is not there to help me. But the best thing about Marvel is that, like I said, the movies were so good and we had such a good time making them.”
Thor: The Dark World is due in theaters Nov. 6, 2013, while Captain America: The Winter Soldier will premiere April 4, 2014.
