Following-up on their exclusive DC Comics-themed trains for San Diego Comic-Con, Mattel is set to release eight more variant "Thomas the Tank Engine" toys with artwork inspired by various DC Comics heroes and villains.

According to Gizmodo, in commemoration of "Thomas the Tank Engine's" 70th anniversary next year, Mattel is set to debut 70 new train figures -- 25 are characters from the franchise's history, while another 45 toys are variants -- of which, eight are getting the DC Comics treatment.

The skins included in the DC Comics set are Superman, Batman, Robin, The Joker, Harley Quinn, Cyborg, The Riddler and The Flash.

Based on the price listed at the Chinese site Toy People News, the DC Comics "Thomas" set is being sold for $20. No release date has been given as of yet.
