Chloë Grace Moretz confirmed she has spoken with Marvel Studios about potentially playing a villain in an upcoming project.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Moretz revealed she has met with the studio about appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While her fans may envision her playing a superhero, the actor shared she would love to take on the role of a villain and explore the darker side of a character. Moretz does note, however, that being a superhero would still be a rewarding experience -- it all comes down to whether she feels the role and project are a perfect fit.

"We've talked a little bit about it," Moretz said in relation to her discussions with Marvel. "I mean, I think for me, I would be really interested in playing a villain in Marvel or DC, and jumping into more of the darker side of the role. I love a superhero. I think that'd be really fun, too, but I think it's just all about finding the one that really matches what you're wanting to get across, and the scope of the character. I think it'd be really fun if it was the right role and the right project."

This is not the first time the Kick Ass actor has expressed an interest in joining the MCU as a villain. Moretz told Capital FM in 2021 that taking part in a Marvel project in any capacity would be a great opportunity. "I've always had this want to play a villain, but I think people might peg me more as a superhero," she said at the time. "I would enjoy to be, of course, in the Marvel Universe, in any way, shape, or form."

As of yet, it has not been confirmed whether Moretz was speaking with Marvel in relation to a particular project or role or when exactly these discussions occurred. Fans will be able to catch Moretz in a new show soon, however, as she is starring in the upcoming Prime Video series, The Peripheral. Based on William Gibson's 2014 book of the same name, Moretz plays Flynne Fisher, a young woman living in a distant future where society has been subtly modified by technology. Flynne's entire world turns upside down one day when she finds out she has a secret connection to an alternate reality as well as a dark future of her own.

The Peripheral begins streaming on Oct. 21. on Prime Video.
