Kick-Ass actor Chloë Grace Moretz reflected on breaking her silence about the body-shaming meme that warped her physique to look like a disproportionate character from Family Guy, sharing what she hopes people learn from her story.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Moretz said that if people take one thing away from her comments on the meme, it's that "compassion is a really key thing in humanity and just being kind with the words that you say with one another, the things you say online." She added, "I think compassion is key and I hope that the world can have a little bit more of that.”

Moretz made her first public comments about the meme, which edited a photo of her so it looked like she had no torso, in September 2022. She said that the photo came at a time when she was already feeling self-conscious due to the amount of unwanted male attention she was receiving. She added that the meme "really affected" her and that, to this day, "it’s something very hard for me to overcome."

Moretz is known for her roles in The 5th Wave, Carrie, and Kick-Ass. She may soon be known for making an appearance in the MCU, too, as the actor reportedly recently met with the studio about a potential role. "I would be really interested in playing a villain in Marvel or DC," she revealed, "and jumping into more of the darker side of the role." She added that it all depends on finding "the right role and the right project."

An action-packed project would likely be a positive outcome for fans that were disappointed to hear that she isn't interested in reprising her role as Hit Girl in a potential Kick-Ass 3. "I don't think there will be a Kick-Ass 3," she explained, "at least I don't think with Hit-Girl in it." This may have something to do with the fact that she "wished [Kick-Ass 2] had been handled in a little bit of a different way.”

But that doesn't mean a third film won't happen. In 2021, Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn teased that audiences will receive "a big reboot of Kick-Ass in two years." He said that he and his team are "going to reboot it where people will be like, 'He is insane.'"

Kick-Ass and its sequel are available to stream on HBO Max.
