Actor Chloë Grace Moretz is recalling the terrible time when the internet made her body into a meme based on a character from Family Guy, revealing how it had negative effects on her mental health.

In an interview with Hunger TV, Moretz explained that the meme arrived during a time when she was starting to get a lot of unwanted male attention, which led her to feel self-conscious and go to therapy. As Moretz explained, "There was one meme that really affected me, of me walking into a hotel with a pizza box in my hand. And this photo got manipulated into a character from Family Guy with the long legs and the short torso, and it was one of the most widespread memes at the time." The actor further explained of her post-meme doldrums, "To this day, when I see that meme, it’s something very hard for me to overcome."

Moretz is known for her roles in The 5th Wave, The Equalizer, and the iconic Hit-Girl in the Kick-Ass films. To the disappointment of some fans, the actor believes that her time as Hit-Girl has ended. She explained that she wants to keep the character as a fond memory, explaining "I kinda wanna keep everyone's mind in Kick-Ass," she said. "So I don't think there will be a Kick-Ass 3, at least I don't think with Hit-Girl in it."

The Possibility of Kick-Ass 3

Despite Moretz's prediction, though, there have been whispers of a third Kick-Ass film. Back in 2021, the original film's director, Matthew Vaughn, teased that a reboot is currently in the works. "It's so fucking nuts that I can't talk about it," he said. "But we've got that ready to go. All the rights revert back in two years and then we're going to reboot it where people will be like, 'He is insane,'" said Vaughn. "Not gonna say."

Despite (probably) not being in the new Kick-Ass, Moretz is still keeping busy. The actor is appearing in a wealth of new projects, including The Peripheral, a TV show where she stars as a woman with access to an alternate reality. She's also fielding a film that looks at the influence of cult-leader Jim Jones called White Knight. Additionally, she'll appear in Love Is a Gun, a unique take on the iconic couple Bonnie and Clyde.

Kick-Ass 1 and 2 are both available to stream on HBO Max.
