Batman writer Chip Zdarsky's Public Domain series will officially be going to print this summer from Image Comics.

CBR can exclusively reveal that Zdarsky's Public Domain will be available for purchase in print formats in June. Public Domain is a series Zdarsky, the new writer for DC's main Batman title, started publishing exclusively on his Substack page last September. "I've been itching to draw a new series for a while now, and Public Domain was the perfect subject matter for me to tackle," Zdarsky told CBR. "Publishing the installments through my Substack has been an amazing experience, but everyone keeps asking me, 'when will we get physical?' I greatly misunderstood the question and blocked a lot of people on Twitter, but now I understand and am thrilled that Image [Comics] is going to be printing Public Domain!"

The plot synopsis for Public Domain by Image Comics reads, "Public Domain follows Syd Dallas, the legendary comic book artist responsible for pop culture's greatest hero: THE DOMAIN! But his sons Miles and David have a complicated relationship with both the creation and their creator. Can they convince their dad to fight for their family's legacy? This thought-provoking series shines a light on the all-too-common battle between creators and corporations in a world where the billion-dollar creations dominate the cultural landscape. It also marks Zdarsky’s return to fully illustrating a series since the end of the beloved Image Comics title Sex Criminals."

Along with 2013's Sex Criminals and his upcoming work on Batman, Zdarsky is also working on an upcoming Daredevil relaunch for Marvel with artist Marco Checchetto that's slated to kick off this summer. Image Comics is currently releasing Zdarsky and Jacob Phillips' Newburn series on a monthly basis, which is described as "Sherlock Holmes meets The Wire." "I love the satisfaction that comes from crime procedurals, so the chance to do that in comic form, while crafting a massive story about a fictional New York underworld, was something I couldn't wait to do," Zdarsky previously said of the series. "And Jacob is the perfect artist for the book! His work is gritty and full of heart and he's bringing it all to this book." Additional titles Zdarsky worked on include Spider-Man: Life Story, Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man, Howard the Duck and more.
