Christmas has come a little early for fans of Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Although the second season has yet to air, the streaming giant has announced the Archie Comics-based drama has been renewed for seasons 3 and 4.
The surprise announcement first came through Netflix's NX Twitter account, which released a brief video of fan-favorite cat Salem offering a special yuletide message for fans. "Want more Chilling Adventures of Sabrina?" the video's subtitles read. "Part 2 coming April 5. But that's not all. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has also been renewed for Parts 3 & 4! Meow."
A report by Variety followed, confirming that the series was renewed for 16 additional episodes, which would be split into two seasons of eight chapters. This is similar to the series' inception on Netflix, which came with an order of 20 episodes that was split over two parts, Season 1 and Season 2.
“Praise Satan! I’m so grateful to my partners at Warner Brothers, Netflix, Berlanti Television, and Archie Productions for supporting this darker vision of the world’s most famous teen witch,” said showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. “And I’m thrilled to be continuing to tell Sabrina’s chilling adventures with our incredible cast and crew, led by the unstoppable Kiernan Shipka.”
Season 2 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will arrive on April 5, 2019, with production on Parts 3 and 4 expected to begin sometime next year.
However, fans don't have to wait for a new episode. A special Christmas episode, "A Midwinter's Tale" was released on Netflix Friday, Dec. 14. While the episode features a standalone adventure filled with ghosts, spirits and wrecthed demons, it still functions as the eleventh chapter in the overarching narrative of the series.
A release date for Parts 3 and 4 have not yet been revealed. The series first premiered at the end of October, and Part 2 was later confirmed to release six months later in April. Taking this into consideration, it's probable that fans will get to see Season 3 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina by next Halloween. How fitting that would be.
Streaming now on Netflix, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter's Tale stars Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman, Ross Lynch as Harvey Kinkle, Michelle Gomez as Mary Wardwell/Madam Satan, Jaz Sinclair as Rosalind Walker, Lachlan Watson as Susie Putnam, Chance Perdomo as Ambrose Spellman, Lucy Davis as Hilda Spellman and Miranda Otto as Zelda Spellman.
