Horror visionary Clive Barker has contributed over 150 of his paintings to The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, ensuring that even the Netflix show’s sets will have more of a horror bent than its predecessors.

During a set visit by i09, Sabrina production designer Lisa Soper explained that most of the artwork decorating the walls of the Academy of Unseen Arts, the mysterious magical school attended by Sabrina, came directly from Barker, creator of Hellraiser and Candyman.

“We spoke about kind of the idea and the themes behind what we were doing here and he said, ‘Why don’t you come down, spend the weekend, take a look through all the artwork and pick out what you want?’” Said Soper.

Modeled after “the practice of Sacred Geometry,” the Academy of Unseen Arts is designed so that each room is identically shaped, and, as such, only one interchangeable set was built. Barker’s paintings will be switched out as needed and will be one of the audience’s main visual cues as to which room is which.

Soper said that she is trying to get Barker to cameo on the series as a teacher.
