The film is expected to begin principal photography soon in Vancouver after being fast-tracked in July. It's produced by David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith, who are behind both installments of director Andy Muschietti's adaptation of the horror novel It.

Plaza stars on the Marvel television series Legion while Henry stars on Donald Glover's acclaimed comedy series Atlanta. Henry's role in the horror film is unknown, but he is rumored to play a police detective investigating the murders linked to the doll. The film is reportedly a complete reboot of the long-running franchise, which had seven installments beginning with 1988's Child's Play.
