As promised by Orion Pictures, the first trailer for the upcoming reboot, Child's Play, has been released.

The trailer runs for a little over a minute, and through a series of brief clips, introduces us to the Barclay family -- a single mother, Karen (Aubrey Plaza) and her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) -- and the nightmare they'll have to endure as the video quickly transforms from a modern, whimsical Christmas ad to a true horror film trailer in less than thirty seconds; one that teases but never fully reveals the murderous, possessed doll: Chucky.

Announced in July 2018, Child's Play is a remake of the 1988 slasher film of the same name, which received largely positive reviews despite being targeted for criticism by concerned parents.

The reboot seems to be following roughly the same plot, albeit an updated version for modern audiences. Instead of Good Guy Dolls, for example, Chucky will now be a possessed Buddi doll, which has been hinted to feature wifi capabilities like many modern toys.

Based on characters by Don Mancini, Child's Play, written by Tyler Burton Smith and directed by Lars Klevberg stars Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry and Gabriel Bateman. The film is set for release on June 21.
