J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot Productions continue to line up genre television projects that sound intriguing -- despite the director/producer's notoriously tight-lipped approach.
The latest, according to Deadline, finds Abrams teaming with Oscar-nominated filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban) for a high-concept NBC pilot about a girl with superpowers that will develop within seven years and the man sprung from prison to protect her from those hunting her down. No title has been revealed.
Cuarón is set to direct the pilot, which he'll co-write with Mark Friedman (The Forgotten). Warner Bros. Television and Bad Robot are producing, with Abrams, Cuarón, Friedman and Bryan Burk executive producing.
