The Chicago Alternative Comics Expo (CAKE) is the latest comic convention to be canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak across the United States and the world. The convention will now take place in June 2021.

"Though we truly wish circumstances were different, CAKE does not want to risk the health of people within our community or those outside of it," the convention's statement reads. "Please know that postponing the show was a choice we made with careful consideration and unanimous agreement."

The group is also postponing the CAKE Art Auction fundraiser. The hope is to hold the event later this year.

CAKE is a celebration of independent comics that takes place in Chicago every year. The event usually features comics stands, workshops, exhibitions, panel discussions and more.

CAKE is the latest comic convention to be postponed or canceled out of fear of the coronavirus. Emerald City Comic Con, WonderCon and Awesome Con have all been postponed to later in the year. However,  Comic-Con International in San Diego is still scheduled for its original July date.
