The CW has released an extended first look at its reboot of the fan-favorite supernatural series Charmed.
Starring Madeline Mantock, Melonie Diaz and Sarah Jefferey as sisters Macy, Mel and Maggie, Charmed follows the three sisters as they learn they're witches following the murder of their mother by a sinister force.
Airing on The CW's predecessor, The WB, from 1998 to 2006, the original series starred Alyssa Milano, Shannen Doherty and Holly Marie Combs as sisters Phoebe, Prue and Piper.
Receiving a season order from The CW last week, the reboot moves the setting from San Francisco to the fictional college town of Hilltowne. The trailer promises fierce, feminist action as the sisters take on dark, supernatural forces threatening their world, and contend with social injustices.
A reboot of Charmed had been planned since 2013, with CBS ultimately passing on the project. The reboot then moved to The CW, with developer Jennie Snyder Urman dividing time between Charmed and Jane the Virgin before the fantasy series received a pilot order by the network in January.
Charmed will air Sundays this fall, following Supergirl, on The CW.
