WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Charmed Season 3, Episode 15, "Schrodinger's Future," which aired Friday on The CW.

In Charmed's latest episode, Maggie and Macy travel to the future in hopes to find Future-Mel, who recently left her baby to Present-Mel. While the duo doesn't succeed in finding Future-Mel, they do learn that the entire world is going to face a doomsday-level plague soon.

Approximately three weeks from their present-day time, The Whispering Evil will be unleashed -- a sickness that targets witches and demons and is destined to turn the world into shambles. Surprisingly, the pair learn about this ill-fated future from their frenemy, Abby, who has taken on a vigilante-like persona (giving Birds of Prey's Huntress vibes) and is living in and defending the future's SafeSpace. That is until we see Abby meet a deadly fate.

Prior to meeting her timely demise, Abby reveals to Maggie and Macy that Maggie is dead in 2026. Further, she tells the pair that she killed Maggie. A stunned Maggie then learns that she had to be killed because she too was infected by The Whispering Evil -- a Big Bad nickname thought up of by Future-Mel -- and was using her powers to destroy others.

Abby reveals that the evil will turn anyone into the darkest versions of themselves, transforming into a clicking (a la The Last of Us) kind of monster. Not quite human and not quite zombie, any witch or demon infected is unable to be controlled. After the half-witch, half-demon explains the future's threat, she too is attacked by an infected, leather boots-wearing witch. The witch turns out to be none other than a Future-Macy, who has since regained her fireball demon powers and used them to vanquish Abby once and for all.

Macy comes face-to-face with her infected self and is terrified at what she's become. Ever since Abby stole Macy's demon powers and used them to kill witches out of revenge, Charmed fans have been wanting to see Macy's powers returned. Further, the death gives some catharsis to Charmed fans who've been wanting to see Abby receive any kind of comeuppance for her former witch murders, kidnapping Jordan and countless entitled acts as the Demon Overlord. And in this episode, technically, Macy does destroy Abby once and for all, which feels a bit like the writers' room paid some fan service -- in the sense that Abby, a rich white woman, finally faces some consequences for her actions.

However, in the present, Abby is still alive. Now that The Charmed Ones have learned about the future evil -- the same one that The Perfecti tried to warn them about before the sisters sent them into the Tomb of Chaos -- it might finally be time for them to bury the hatchet with Abby to collectively focus on stopping a world-ending plague before it starts. In the future, five years to be exact, Abby joined a resistance led by Mel, so it's entirely possible that Abby will be more of an asset than a curse soon for The Charmed Ones. At the very least, if 2026 Macy had her demon powers back, then perhaps Abby was telling the truth in "Chaos Theory" when she said she'd find a way to safely return Macy's powers to her.
