Director and star Elizabeth Banks has described the film as "a continuation" rather than a full-on reboot of the classic crime-fighting franchise, popularized by multiple televisions series and two films. The film stars Kristen Stewart as hard-partying wild card Sabina Wilson, Ella Balinska as ex-MI6 operative Jane Kano and Naomi Scott as MIT-educated scientist Elena Houghlin.

Banks will portray the primary trio's handler Bosley, giving this set of Angels their missions and assistance. While Bosley has traditionally just been one character, Patrick Stewart and Shazam!'s Djimon Hounsou will also portray characters who operate under the Bosley alias in this updated take on the classic '70s series.
