Charlie Hunnam Replaces Benedict Cumberbatch in 'The Lost City of Z'

Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam has taken over the lead role in The Lost City of Z following the departure of Benedict Cumberbatch, TheWrap reports.

It will now be Hunnam suiting up to play Col. Percival Fawcett in the film based on the real-life quest to return to a mythical city in the Amazon that he claimed to have discovered.

The film adapts David Grann's bestselling 2009 novel of the same name, which expanded upon a New Yorker article he wrote four years earlier. James Gray will direct the film, with Sienna Miller is attached to play Fawcett's wife, Nina. Robert Pattinson will also star.

Cumberbatch had to drop out of the project due to his new commitment as Marvel's Doctor Strange. Production on The Lost City of Z is expected to begin in early 2015.
