A fan-favorite character from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe is making his comic book debut later this month within the pages of BOOM! Studios' Angel #4.

The issue will mark the comic series' first full appearance of the vampire hunter known as Charles Gunn. Charles was originally introduced in the Angel television series -- a spinoff of Buffy -- in which he was played by J. August Richards.

Angel #4 follows the titular character as he is sucked into a realm where he is tortured by visions of past atrocities, not to mention a mysterious figure with a stake trained on his heart. In order to escape, Angel must face these illusions and ultimately defeat his own fears.

However, a much greater threat is lurking just around the corner. And Angel must use every resource and ally he can to help him save the world, including the troubled Fred, whom Angel had previously saved from a demon that was stalking her (and who is evidently connected to the dark forces closing in on Angel.) Also joining the fray is the aforementioned Charles. Though, it is unclear if his intention is to help our protagonist, or put an end to him for good.
