Eros, better known by his superhero moniker, Starfox is the brother of Thanos. As a result, he finds himself at the center of a film universe he hasn't entirely entered into yet. Harry Styles portrays the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and audiences should expect more appearances on the docket.

The character isn't so fresh in the comics. Introduced alongside his more infamous sibling in The Invincible Iron Man #55, he's continued throughout the years to act as the heroic counter to Thanos. As a result, he's crossed paths with many heroes and villains. He's an Eternal who boasts abilities and strength typical of the race. However, he's met more than a few matches during his time traveling the cosmos.

Given their differences, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Starfox's most consistent foe is his own flesh and blood. Thanos sets his sights on the coming celestial messiah in Avengers: Celestial Quest, and Starfox makes a bid to stop him.

Leading some of his home planet's most powerful Eternals, Eros proceeds to engage his brother in hand-to-hand combat, which is a surprisingly rare occurrence for the two. Undoubtedly, Eros regrets engaging: Thanos proves stronger and subdues his younger brother by blasting him into unconsciousness. The rivalry between the brothers is a contest of heartbreak, with familial bonds stricken in favor of power.

5 Morgan Le Fay Puts A Spell On Him

Morgan Le Fay is a dark sorceress who's introduced to the Marvel canon way back in 1955. She's been a stalwart foe for the heroes ever since, and her most infamous episode is presented in Avengers #1-3 when she transforms the titular team into her own personal guardian force. This altered reality gives the impression of medieval times with the heroes dressed to match. Starfox is one of the Avengers altered by the witch and calls himself the Knave of Hearts. Le Fay is a formidable adversary given her ability to control the minds and perceptions of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

4 Thanatos Catches Him Unawares

Thanatos is a time-traveling figure who's actually Rick Jones aka A-Bomb from an alternate reality. This spear-wielding foe is hellbent on gathering items that enhance his power, and he strikes down Starfox to accomplish this.

In Captain Marvel #27, Thanatos stabs Eros in the neck with the Spear of Destiny upon encountering the hero. This makes for a bloody predicament for the Eternal as he's unable to heal due to the weapon's magical nature. He's subsequently forced to seek assistance in overthrowing Thanatos. Starfox can't catch a break with people whose names begin with "Th-" and end with "-os."

3 The Black Order Leaves Their Mark

Frankly, it's a miracle that Starfox survived his encounter with the Black Order, alternatively known as the Children of Thanos. Following his villainous brother's demise at the hands of Gamora, Starfox makes it his mission to ensure his brother stays dead. Guardians of the Galaxy #1 catches the hero in the midst of that mission after his brother's thralls begin an assault on the Sanctuary. The baddies pull out all the stops to serve their deceased master, employing a device that generates a rip in space. The entire story is a bummer for Starfox as he goes on to become possessed by Thanos, but his problems originate from his intense scarring at the hands of the Black Order.

2 Hela Triggers A Possession

Hela is a rogue that movie audiences are familiar with given her integral role in Thor: Ragnarok. The Goddess of Death is enraptured by Thanos due to his worship of her domain. The Titan's resurrection looms large over Guardians of the Galaxy, culminating in his possessing Starfox.

The heroes of the comic frantically rush to somehow prevent Thanos' return to living in the body of his daughter Gamora. However, Hela reveals that the madman wasn't returning in the body of his daughter, but rather his brother Eros. This immediately triggers the event, leading Starfox to lose himself entirely to his brother's soul. It's a troubling scene as it metaphorically zaps the emotion and light from the universe as Eros gives way to Thanos.

In the same comic that has Starfox attacked by the Black Order and Hela, the hero's fortunes continue to fall in the "Final Gauntlet" storyline. He's working overtime to accelerate the transference of Thanos' consciousness to his body, obviously under the influence of his resident brother. Meanwhile, his niece, Gamora, chooses to end the threat of Thanos' resurrection once and for all. Grasping her sword, she regrettably impales her uncle through the back. She manages to apologize to Starfox before he succumbs to his wounds. Guardians of the Galaxy is a dark space adventure, heralding the rebirth of one of Marvel's most terrifying villainous forces.
