After years of delays, the science fiction film Chaos Walking was released both theatrically and on VOD platforms this past March, with the all-star cast led by Daisy Ridley as the heroic Viola.

In a CBR-exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette, Ridley discusses how her experience working on the sci-fi movie was the most collaborative filmmaking process she has had to date. The young star explains the ways the filmmakers, including director Doug Liman, worked directly with her to develop Viola's depiction on camera, resulting in a truly collaborative performance that naturally reflects Ridley's sensibilities.

Chaos Walking is based on the science fiction novel The Knife of Never Letting Go, written by Patrick Ness. Set in the year 2267, humans settling on a faraway planet known as the New World experience a condition that exposes their inner thoughts to those around them. Some time after a war against aliens wiped out the colony's women, Viola crashes on New World where she navigates her strange surroundings while managing to conceal her thoughts.

The film began principal photography in 2017 for an expected 2019 theatrical release date, and reconvened in April 2019 for extensive reshoots, leading to delays that were exacerbated by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Upon its release this past March, Chaos Walking received mixed reviews.

Directed by Doug Liman, Chaos Walking stars Tom Holland, Daisy Ridley, Mads Mikkelsen, Demián Bichir, Cynthia Erivo, Nick Jonas, Kurt Sutter and David Oyelowo. The film is available on digital home video and arrives on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD on May 25.
