Chanukah Saves the Day on WGBH 89.7 FM
Great Judah's Ghost! From Maccabees to Marvels, "Chanukah: A Time for Superheroes" tells the story of the surprising connection between ancient Hebrew heroes and modern-day superheroes. WGBH 89.7 FM will broadcast the program in the Boston-area Sunday, December 17 at 10pm. The radio program--which steams live worldwide via the web--will also be available on-demand during the eight days of Chanukah, December 15-22, at wgbh.org.
Hosted by actor Arye Gross, "Chanukah: A Time for Superheroes," features interviews with heavy-hitters from the comic book world, including Marvel Comics' Stan Lee, DC's Wil Eisner, film directors Sam Raimi (Spiderman series) and Bryan Singer (X-Men series, Superman Returns), and "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay" author Michael Chabon. Listeners will also visit the studios of Art Spiegelman and the Hanouka brothers. Interviews are woven with archival radio, movie clips, music and readings to tell the tale of how the holiday evolved from a story of military victory to one of light and inspiration.
Beginning Friday, December 15, you will be able to link directly to the program here.
