WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Chainsaw Man #66, by Tatsuki Fujimoto, Amanda Haley and Sabrina Heep, available now from Viz Media.

Chainsaw Man has plenty of exciting and dangerous characters in its roster, and Makima has a place at the top of that list. There is so much we don't know about her, including the extent of her powers or her exact intentions, but let's take a look at everything we've seen from the Public Relations Devil Hunter so far and just why she might be everyone's worst enemy.

Chainsaw Man follows Denji, a young man whose heart fuses with a type of monster called a Devil. This fusion grants him the ability to sprout chainsaws from various parts of his body, but he loses his freedom in the process. Eventually, he joins Division 4, an experimental group of Public Relations Devil Hunters led by Makima. For most people, her ominous power and the fear that accompanies it are more than enough to control them, but in Denji's case, she can exploit his romantic desires.

Aside from having an insane tolerance to alcohol, we've seen Makima survive what should have been a fatal gunshot wound to the head. After the Gun Devil, the series' main antagonist, sent out multiple hit squads to kill several Public Safety Devil Hunters, they appear to have taken her out. However, to the surprise of her would-be assassins and teammates who have received reports of her death, she returns unscathed.

One of Makima's most terrifying skills can crush her target into nothing. It requires going to a shrine and sacrifices, which she uses convicts serving life, who she instructs to speak a specific name, after which she presses her palms together and the one whose name they spoke gets painfully crushed. She uses this technique to eliminate several of the Gun Devils forces with horrifying results. This power allows her to reduce anyone, friend or foe, into nothing should they ever find themselves in her crosshairs.

After the battle with Reze/Bomb Girl,  Makima reveals another ability is to become a mischief of rats, which she can pull together like Voltron to form her human body. While less intimidating than the ability to crush people, she's referred to herself as a necessary evil while threatening the Yakuza with a bag filled with the eyes of its member's friends and family, so it's safe to say any added abilities only make her more dangerous.

Most recently, the "International Assassins Arc" introduced readers to a world of new compelling characters who all arrive in Japan for a showdown. During a meeting between Devil hunter Kishibe and Chinese assassin Quanxi, Kishibe uses written notes to reveal that Makima is listening and that he intends to betray and kill her. This ability is validated when we see Santa Claus, the German assassin, read a note, which again mentions Makima is listening. The range and limit of this ability are still undetermined, but everything we've seen from her so far is enough to frighten anyone. Even Kishibe seems to doubt if she still fights for the side of humanity.

The battle against the international assassins ends up in literal Hell, as members from all sides are teleport there and encounter the Darkness Devil, a powerful and intimidating entity. Tolka, the Devil hunter/assassin from the Soviet Union, is among them and introduces himself as the Doll Devil and, per their contract, has brought the Darkness Devil the Chainsaw's heart in exchange for the power to kill Makima.

With the help of the Spider Devil/Prinz's ability, Makima teleports to Hell to join the fight. During their battle, Makima points at the Darkness Devil, which causes it to bleed profusely, but it breaks her finger and eventually her entire right arm. Then, by touching Tolka's head, Makima can speak through him and address the Hell Devil, forcing him to say, "I offer you all of myself. So Please... Send us back." However, the Darkness Devil stabs Makima's chest before everyone gets transported back.

The scariest thing about Makima is that nobody knows what she wants. Her many abilities have caused her to become one of the most feared Devil hunters in the world, but the question of who should be afraid of her is far more tantalizing than what she can do.

Chainsaw Man #67 will release April 26 from Viz Media.
