The following contains spoilers for Episode 5 of Chainsaw Man, "GUN DEVIL" now streaming on Crunchyroll.

Tatsuki Fujimoto has finally divulged the details of the prank Denji and Power pulled in a chapter of Chainsaw Man, and it's a stinker.

Fujimoto has taken to live-tweeting his reactions as he watched the airing of the anime adaptation of his work Chainsaw Man. This week, Chainsaw Man aired Episode 5, where a team of Public Safety Devil Hunters, including Denji, Power and Aki, are dispatched for a devil extermination at a hotel. This episode aligns with Chapter 14 of the manga, which published in March 2019. Aki is particularly strict with Denji and Power during their pre-extermination meeting. The two wonder if it results from a practical joke they pulled on Aki in the morning. After three years, the creator of Chainsaw Man revealed that Denji and Power's prank involved putting a big piece of "unko (poop)" on Aki's nose. Fujimoto did not say whose it belonged to after dropping the "number two" bombshell.

Chainsaw Man Showcases the Chaos of Found Family

Chainsaw Man follows the story of Denji, introduced at the beginning of the series as a young man who has nothing much in his life besides the clothes on his back and his loyal best friend, Pochita. After Pochita dies and sacrifices himself to save Denji, turning him into the gruesome Chainsaw Man, Denji has the opportunity to have a new life as a Public Safety Devil Hunter, an organization dedicated to killing devils. Along with the job, Denji now has a rather dysfunctional family in the form of Aki Hayakawa, a Devil Hunter who has a strong hatred for Devils, and Power, a Blood Fiend who only seems to care about her cat Meowy.

Ryū Nakayama directs the MAPPA-produced anime adaptation with Hiroshi Seko as the scriptwriter and character designs by Kazutaka Sugiyama. Kikunosuke Toya takes up the Japanese voice-acting role as Denji, while Ryan Colt Levy acts as the English dub counterpart. Shogo Sakata voices Aki, with Reagan Murdock as the English dub actor, while Fairouz Ai Kadota and Sarah Wiedenheft portray Power in their respective language dubs. Voicing Makima, the mysterious woman who takes in Denji, is the Japanese voice actor Tomori Kusunoki and Suzie Yeung in English.

The Manga Is An Award-Winner

Bursting onto the manga scene in December 2018, Fujimoto's Chainsaw Man captured many people's interest and attention due to the graphic violence and mature sexual themes, all experienced through the perspective of a young man who has already gone through a lot in his short life. Many critics have noted the series as being very different from any other shōnen series currently out despite starting its serialization in Weekly Shōnen Jump and then transitioning to Shōnen Jump+. The series won several awards, including Best Shōnen Manga at the 2021 Shogakukan Manga Award and the Harvey Award twice in a row.

The first five episodes of Chainsaw Man are available on Crunchyroll and Hulu. The manga currently has 110 chapters and is available to read on Viz Media and Manga Plus.
